Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary
www.cefn-yr-erw.co.uk/
Wales Ape & Monkey Sanctuary is in the Swansea Valley in the lovely Brecon Beacons National Park area of South Wales. Formerly a traditional Welsh hill farm, the sanctuary now rescues and provides a home for many types of unwanted animals, especially primates, such as chimpanzees, baboons, spider monkeys, capuchins and marmosets . We welcome visitors to see the animals and the work we do. A number of them have come from zoos and laboratories and some have suffered mistreatment and deprivation in their earlier lives. As they are not equipped for survival in the wild we can only endeavour to make the rest of their lives as enjoyable and stress free as possible.

Set amongst the woodland of Dorset lays 65 acres of sanctuary for over 240 primates. Monkey World was set up in 1987 by Jim Cronin to provide abused Spanish beach chimps with a permanent, stable home. Today Monkey World works in conjunction with foreign governments from all over the world to stop the illegal smuggling of apes out of Africa and Asia. At the park visitors can see more than 240 primates of 15 different species.

A campaign to gather 1 million signatures: "One million people for Apes"
www.apesmanifesto.org/index.php#sign
Tropical forests are disappearing at an excessive speed and with them the last populations of great apes. All specialists are unanimous: if we do nothing gorillas, chimpanzees and bonobos will have disappeared by the middle of the 21st century. The situation of orangoutans is even more dramatic; in 20 years time, they might only exist in zoos. Today, it is important to become active in order to stop this Ecocide! We, citizens of the Earth, ask our governments and international authorities to accept as their superior duty to save and protect primates.
